You need at least one domain name per website. Two different websites cannot have the same domain name. E.g. www.bbc.co.uk, www.ebay.com.
However, two (or more) domain names can refer to the same website. For example, where you have .com and .co.uk domains both pointing to the same site.
Two (or more) domain names referring to the same site - can be "split" at any stage to refer to different sites - e.g. so that a UK site could be tailored to the UK market, leaving a global site on the .com address.
